Sarah Lea “Sally” Ellis, 74, of Rushville, IL, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Rushville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Sally was born March 19, 1942 on the family farm in Schuyler Co., IL. She was the daughter of the late Harold W. & Mary Louise Irwin Kinkead. She married Gene H. Ellis June 7, 1959 at the Astoria Christian Church. He passed away March 18, 2010.
Surviving are four daughters, Leann Heffren & husband Bob of Ripley, IL, Georgeann L. Ellis & companion Kathy Foster of Beardstown, IL, Rhonda J. Morton & husband Darrell of Heber Springs, AR, Kimberly N. Cluney of Rushville, IL, ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter and her brother, John Kinkead.
Sally graduated from Astoria High School and was a Certified Nurse’s Aide. She worked at Astoria Health Care Center & Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home as a C.N.A. She later operated the concessions area of the nursing home. She was a member of the Astoria Christian Church and the Rushville First Presbyterian Church. She taught Children’s Sunday School classes and Bible School. She was also a member of the Astoria Mothers Club, was a R.S.V.P. volunteer and for 21 years she volunteered at the Rushville HELP Center. Sally loved life and all the people she came in contact with. She especially enjoyed all the visits from her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Worthington Funeral Home with Mr. David Haney officiating. Interment will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the Rushville HELP Center.
