Today I got the chance to speak with NBC Sports Play-By-Play broadcaster and host Mike Tirico. We discussed his transition from 25 years at ESPN to starting at NBC this past summer, some of the legendary broadcasters he's now working alongside in his new digs, and some insight about his preparation for being on top of the rules in all of the sports he broadcasts. My weekly conversation with Charlie Fisher. Following Western's 44-34 season-ending loss to Southern Illinois there of course is a lot to discuss. We talk about how momentum changed in a game that the Leathernecks led by three posessions in the third quarter, what the postgame scene was like in the locker room, and how he personally will process this loss.

Specifically he sheds light on some of the more unknown aspects of Stabler's life, including the impact of CTE on it. Mike and I also discuss his reporting on the racial divide in NFL locker rooms, highlighted by Donald Trump's Presidential Campaign.
Leathernecks men's and women's basketball play Southeast Missouri State, Macomb Bombers Girls Basketball faced Pleasant Plains, Cy Young Awards were handed out with some controversy on the AL side, and lots of NBA action.
This week's Hy-Vee Athlete of the Week award goes to West Prairie Volleyball Junior and State Champion Peyton Bowman. Peyton, a middle blocker for the Cyclones, discusses her team's run to the 1A title, the resiliency it took to come back after losing the first set in the title game, and what the championship means to the West Prairie community. On Friday I went over to speak with the WIU Men's Basketball team for a media day with their season just one week away. The Leathernecks open up the regular season slate this Friday night at Kansas State. I conducted interviews with Head Coach Billy Wright and Senior Guards Jabari Sandifer and Garret Covington.
This morning I spoke with Leathernecks Head Volleyball Coach Kelly Richardson about the athletic department's Hometown Heroes doubleheader. The WIU volleyball team will play Friday night at 5 at Western Hall against IUPUI, with the Women's Basketball season opener against Monmouth College to follow. For this week our Hy-Vee Athlete of the Week is Macomb High School Sophomore Cross Country Runner Maya Stovall. Maya capped off her second season as a Bomber by earning All-State honors for the second consecutive year. She placed 11th in the 1A State Final Saturday at Detweiler Park in Peoria with a time of 17:55 on the 3 mile course. This was third among all Sophomore runners.
I spoke with Maya today about her performance on Saturday, some of the specific routines she goes through as a runner, and some of the things she'd like to work on moving into next season.

West Prairie Volleyball Senior Hannah Thompson is this week's Hy-Vee Athlete of the Week award winner. Hannah, who plays the outside hitter position for West Prairie, won the award for her stellar play during Regionals.
The Cyclones won their first Regional Title since 2013 by knocking off Concord Tripoia (25-6, 25-3) and Payson-Seymour (18-25, 27-25, 25-20). During that two-game span Hannah accounted for a team high 27 digs, to go along with 20 kills, 7 service points, and 2.5 blocks.
Tonight West Prairie plays a sectional semifinal match against Lewistown in Bushnell. The Cyclones beat the Indians 25-17 25-6 when they last played on October 11. The winner will face the victor of the Lexington Augusta (Southeastern) game on Thursday.
